A Christmas Wish

Christmas Wish
I'd like to have the food dispersed to give to all the poor,
I'd like to have a future life without the threat of war,
And people in our hospitals from illness find release.
I'd like to stamp out cruelty- put in its place respect,
I'd like to give all people time on nature to reflect.
These things I know we all desire
And pray they will come true,
But we do know that all such things
Start with me and you.
So, what I want this Christmas
To last through all my years
Is, To be found more sensitive
To other people's fears.
And whether it be close at home
Or in another land,
This way I would know how to give
A well-timed helping hand.
This poem by myself was part of an A.B.C. Radio competition several years ago in which I won a book! It is published (self published) in my book of poems "Barriers Broken". You may use this poem over Christmas with the appropriate acknowlegements. Picture of Santa from Clip art, Microsoft word "Christmas"
